Doesn't Halsey have only 1 black grandparent? Her dad is biracial no? If I were her, I'd get annoyed at the Halsey comment lmao. Jhené says things in a weird fake woke way, but I feel like we all sorta know what she's tryna say. This is why people don't take you seriously. Speak with your chest instead of your weak third eye bullshit. I think her reasons about acknowledging her ancestors suffering were fair and respectable, but it's crazy people think this was a great announcement because it just reads to me like a sulky child pouting that "FINE, I won't say it even though THAT PERSON can". Asian is the least thing she is until she needs it to sell herself or put across another image, just like every other thing she tries to claim. If Asian is the "least thing" she is, why does she insist on going by a Japanese stage-surname that's not her real one? I'm sure many Japanese people would find her photoshoots as a geisha tacky and disrespectful. She just thinks so because she's allowed people to fetishize her Japanese heritage and uses it herself as nothing more than a prop for her personality. But she clings onto that as if her Asianness extends her Blackness just because it isn't whiteness. The reason its ridiculous is because the fact she has less white in her doesn't mean anything - her other heritages are all historically and currently anti-Black. Except she's saying it in such a way where she won't come out and actually admit that's what she meant because she's too afraid to speak with her chest for fear of saying the "wrong" thing, so she just goes typical Jhene and fades into riddles because she's backed herself into a corner, and it's easier for her to claim she's just too deep and evolved for other people to understand, than it is for her to actually have the integrity to explain herself. What she's basically saying is that she feels she has more entitlement to say the word than half Black half white people because their percentage of white is higher than hers, meaning they have more of the oppressors ancestry than she does. She says: "i saw the argument that other people are more black than me because they are half and half, so im just saying.they are also more of the other race than me.so" with that dumb passive aggressive shrug emoji, yes?
